Computer Memory: The Brain of Your Computer

Computer Memory plays a vital role in how efficiently a computer works. Just like the human brain stores and recalls information, computer memory stores data, instructions, and results so the system can perform tasks quickly and smoothly. Without computer memory, a computer would not be able to function properly.

There are different types of Computer Memory, each with a specific purpose. The most common type is RAM (Random Access Memory). RAM is temporary memory that stores data while programs are running. When you open a browser, play a game, or use software, RAM helps these tasks run faster. However, once the computer is turned off, RAM clears all stored data.

Another important type is ROM (Read Only Memory). ROM stores permanent instructions required to start the computer. Unlike RAM, the data in ROM is not lost when the system shuts down. In addition, secondary memory such as hard drives and SSDs is used to store files, software, videos, and documents for long-term use.
